The graphic to the right is a scaled representation of
a Hardsuit diving at 1000 feet. The Newsuit has been used successfully at this depth. If
you can imagine, 1000 feet of water is equal to the weight of two double-decker buses
pressing down on you.
The Hardsuits ability to operate at these depths is primarily attributed to the pressure balanced rotary joint design. These joints, connected with a simple Teflon rod, keep parts separated so that they can move freely under great pressure. Due to this design, suits can be developed to operate any distance below the surface.
The cost of diving and working at 1000 feet using conventional saturation diving techniques can be in excess of $275,500.00 for one twelve-hour day. The same scenario with the Hardsuit ADS could be reduced to $53,000.00. Overall savings can be realized because the Hardsuit requires no compression or decompression time or excessive support facilities, the crew size is drastically reduced, and there is no need for expensive mixed diving gases.
